Noname Pentax K-Leica M adapter

An adapter for Pentax K mount lenses.

To be installed on Leica M mount cameras.

There is even a blank template for 6-bit code.

I don't have a Leica M mount camera. I use this adapter together with a second adapter: Leica M-Sony FE/E close focus (helicoid) adapter.

It works fine, but there is a rather noticeable focusing beyond infinity. This is mostly the fault of the Pentax K-Leica M adapter (too thin).

There is also some play, I've already written about that.

But it allows to focus a Pentax K lens to infinity, and then to reduce the focusing distance as when using an almost 5mm extension tube. And this is not so small for short focal lengths (up to 50 mm).

Angarsk: 12 photos from 1975 (and 2023)

In 1975 there was an event in Angarsk. The participants were given an album dedicated to this event. This album contained some photos of Angarsk. I have scanned them and would like to present them.

And also my photos of the same places from the ground (August 2023).

Disclaimer: My photographs are nothing more than a documentation of reality.

Samsung S21 FE and Moon shots

The Moon shot on the Samsung S21 FE can be taken at 30x magnification. It uses a telemodule with the 7.12mm f/2.4 lens (76mm f/25.6 equivalent) and the Hynix Hi-847 sensor (8MP 1/4.40" - very tiny, crop factor ~10.7), but the image is upscaled 10x as claimed (I think, a bit more to get 12MP from 8MP).

1. Actual captured image, cropped 1:1 after upscaling.

The resolution is too low to upscale that much.

2. The fake image, cropped 1:1.

This is not a result from the sensor, it is generated by software: ANALYSIS - Samsung Moon Shots are FakeSamsung "space zoom" moon shots are fake, and here is the proof.

3. And for comparison the Vivitar OEM 85/1.8 at f/6 on the Sony a7c (24MP FF) and upscaled 6.4x, cropped 1:1:

Compare the edge of the Moon, there is no relief in the S21 FE fake version because there is no base data from the sensor.

M39x1/45.2 (SLR) lens list

Note that there are special M39x1 lenses made for 45.2mm flange focal distance (SLR), not 28.8mm (rangefinder).

There are two types of them.

1. Lenses for M39x1/45.2 only, but not for M39x1/28.8.

Мир/Mir-1 37/2.8
Гелиос/Helios-44 58/2
Гелиос/Helios-40 85/1.5
Индустар/Industar-24М 105/3.5 or 110/3.5
Таир/Tair-11 135/2.8
Юпитер/Jupiter-6 180/2.8
Юпитер/Jupiter-21 200/4
Телемар/Telemar-22 200/5.6
Таир/Tair-3 300/4.5
МТО/MTO-500 500/8
МТО/MTO-1000 1000/10

2. Lenses that have versions for both M39x1/45.2 and M39x1/28.8 (can be confused).

Гелиос/Helios-65 50/2
Индустар/Industar-26М 50/2.8
Индустар/Industar-22 50/3.5
Индустар/Industar-50 50/3.5
Юпитер/Jupiter-9 85/2
Юпитер/Jupiter-11 135/4

So-called "A" lenses, which can be mounted with the M39x1/45.2 adapter, are not mentioned.

Pentacon 30/3.5: My experience [5/5]

The final part of Sony a7c (24MP, FF) + Pentacon 30/3.5 examples. All shots here were taken at f/3.5.

I think this lens is underrated, as I've written before.

Pentacon 30/3.5: My experience [4/5]

A few more examples with Sony a7c (24MP, FF) + Pentacon 30/3.5 at f/3.5.

And, naturally, flowers and plants.

From Ricoh GR to Ricoh GR III?

Reasons why I want to upgrade from the Ricoh GR to the Ricoh GRIII:

1. The in-body image stabilization (IBIS) is important to me (I appreciated it on the Sony a7c). With the Ricoh GR, I get a lot of blurry images due to camera movement at the moment of shooting. Either the camera is too light or the ergonomics are not good.

So I use a shutter speed of 1/60 for Auto-ISO, thus losing at least 1EV in ISO/noise (for 28mm equivalent).

In contrast, the Ricoh GR III features In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS).

2. The Ricoh GR's 16MP is not enough. The sharp lens very often causes moiré on this sensor, so more pixels are desirable. The 24MP of the Ricoh GR III is the minimum these days.

And cropping 24MP (of the Ricoh GR III) to 16MP is like going from an 18.3/2.8 lens (28/4.3 equivalent ) to 22.9/3.5 (35/5.4 equivalent). Not bad.

3. The Ricoh GR had a low-noise sensor when it was introduced. But it's been 10 years. The GR III has a less noisy sensor (I can see that).

4. DNG files from the Ricoh GR contain very small preview images (640x424). When zooming DNG (in RAW only mode) in the camera, there are no details. So I shoot DNG + JPG (RAW+ mode), even though I do not need not JPG files at all.

DNG files from the Ricoh GR III contain full-size preview images (6000x4000). FastStone Image Viewer can display them. And, of course, there's no problem with the enlarged view on the camera.

What I don't care about:

1. The GR III's lack of a built-in flash. I never used it with the GR.

2. The change in controls and buttons. A matter of habit.

What I don't like about the Ricoh GRIII:

1. Unresolved dust problem. The "Dust Removal II" cleaning (by shaking the sensor) is ineffective.

2. High price. It is possible to look at used cameras, but the mentioned dust problem prevents it.

As an alternative, I consider the Sony ZV-1 (the successor of RX100 III-V models, but not the ZV-1 Mark II model). It has a 1" sensor (which I didn't like), but it has some advantages.

The Fujifilm XF10 is still available (used). Fortunately, it has a 24 MP sensor with 1.5x crop factor and Bayer filter (not X-Trans). But it doesn't have IBIS.

But overall the upgrade is unlikely, I will continue to use the old Ricoh GR.

Pentacon 30/3.5: My experience [3/5]

More examples with Sony a7c (24MP, FF) + Pentacon 30/3.5. As I said before, this lens is interesting at f/3.5.

I measured the minimum focusing distance: 305-310 mm (from the film/sensor plane). The maximum magnification: 1:7.5, x0.13. Obviously not a macro lens, but good for an old wide angle lens. With this lens you can take nice pictures of flowers and plants.

The bubbles in the background are there.
