When digital cameras first became popular, good 85mm lenses were either rare or expensive. I tried several copies of the Jupiter-9 85/2, and they were all terrible. I preferred the Helios-40 85/1.5, but it was too specialized and heavy.
Nowadays, ~85mm lenses are easy to find. Although I am not a big fan of this focal length, I have seven lenses ranging from 70 to 90 mm.
